
IIT Delhi is one of the seven IITs in India. The Department of Management Studies of IIT Delhi offers three types of MBA courses, viz, MBA for Technology Management, MBA for Telecommunication Systems and MBA for Management Systems. MBA for Management Systems is a full time two year course. MBA for Technology management is a three year full time course and MBA for Telecommunication Systems is a two year full time course.
Admission to the MBA courses is done through a Joint Management Entrance Test.
In order to be eligible the candidate needs to have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields, Engineering, Technology, Archtecture, Pharmacy, or else a BSc in Agricultural Engineering. A Masters degree in Mathematical, Physical or Chemical Science. A minimum of 60% aggregate marks of all the semesters (or 6.75 CGPA) is essential for the admission. For admission to part time course a minimum two years of experience is required along with the other eligibility criteria. Students who qualify the JMET are then called upon for a group discussion and an interview at Delhi.
Application for the JMET can be made online through their website www.dmsiitd.org or by visiting any of the IISc or IIT websites. The application fee is Rs. Three hundred fifty for SC/PD/ST candidates and Rs. Seven hundred fifty for all other candidates. The fees can be paid through core banking or b y demand draft. Candidates who cannot upload photos and signatures need to send a copy of their application to the Chairman. Sc/PD/ST candidates need to submit a SC/ST/PD Certificate issued by an appropriate authority. Complete applications are processed and admit cards to the candidates are sent.
Once the candidate passes the JMET he/she is called for a group discussion and an interview. Based on this group discussion and interview a panel of judges evaluates the potential of each candidate and decides whether to grant him/her admission or not.
