For admission in PGDM (post graduate in diploma management) the candidate must have completed the 3 years Bachelor’s degree or any of the equivalent courses in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or AICTE.

All the other criteria of admission applicable is like just like CAT (Common Admission Test). For the Admissions in the PGDM programme requires a Bachelor's degree of BCA, BBA,B COM etc (by considering the 10 + 2 + 3 (4 years) system). The candidates must be scored with minimum 50% marks or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognized course by the Association of Indian Universities. Candidates who are appearing in the final examination of any of the Bachelor's degree course or equivalent are also eligible to apply in PGDM by MICA.

The Selection criteria has 3 stages, In first stage Candidates can apply in the course based on the scores of CAT or GMAT Test.
In second Stage candidates who are short listed will be invited for the MICA Admissions Test (MICAT) which is held at selected venues across the country. In Third stage: Those candidates who have cleared the MICAT will be invited for Personal Interview (PI) and Group Exercise (GE) at the MICA campus in Ahmedabad.

After the graduate or Bachelor degree course, most of the students now prefer to do the MBA (Master of business application) course. As in market the MBA course is in demand nowadays. For doing MBA course, the candidate must have scored the percentage more than 50% in the courses like BBA/BCOM/BCA/ICAI/ICWAI/ICSI or AMIE.

The candidates who are appearing in the final year of their graduation are also eligible for giving MBA entrance exam. The candidates belong to SC/ST get grants of 5% in Punjab University. Application Form can also be downloaded from the website through internet. And the form must be submitted along with a Bank Draft of Rs.1600/- (Rs.800/- for SC/ST candidates). The Completed forms for MBA, MBA (IB), MBA (HR), and MBA (BIOTECH) must be reached to the Assistant Registrar, University Business School, Punjab University, Chandigarh-160014 as fast as possible, the date for last submission is mentioned in bulletins.

The candidates who are in toppers list are short listed are called for group discussions and interviews.
